Realtor.com: Marilyn Monroe’s West Hollywood Penthouse Condo Is Listed for $2.5M

Featuring a curvaceous staircase in the entryway, the condo measures 2,032 square feet and spans two stories.

Other posh features include gleaming hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, and comfy window seats from which residents can enjoy those spectacular Hollywood views.

Both bathrooms have been remodeled and now boast elegant fixtures and surfaces.

The kitchen has also been completely remodeled and features Venetian plaster walls, stainless-steel cabinetry, and Viking appliances.

From the kitchen, the floor plan flows into a formal dining room with a cool chandelier that will remain in the unit.

The Granville was built in 1930, and is one of several iconic Hollywood buildings built by Leland Bryant and Samuel Coine. It remains impressive nearly a century later.

Resident amenities in the complex include a 24-hour doorman, a clubhouse, a well-appointed pool, and spa. There’s also a courtyard and garden that take residents back to a more gracious, less frantic time.

Monroe lived in this penthouse in 1954, after splitting up with her second husband, the baseball legend Joe DiMaggio.

A little less than a year later, she moved from her sweet pied-à-terre in Granville Towers and left Hollywood entirely, when she married husband No. 3, the playwright Arthur Miller.

In the early 1960s, she returned to Los Angeles, and shortly after her divorce from Miller, she purchased what was to be her first and last home, a four-bedroom, three-bathroom, 2,624-square-foot, hacienda-style home in Brentwood. She died in the master bedroom four months after she bought the home.

That Brentwood home sold for $7.25 million in 2017, about $350,000 over the $6.9 million asking price. Today, it’s estimated to be worth about $9,015,000. It will be interesting to see what kind of influence Monroe’s brief residency could have on the Granville Towers condo.

Monroe wasn’t the only blonde actress to call the elegant penthouse condo in Granville Towers home. The current owners purchased the condo for $860,000 from the actress Portia de Rossi in 2003.

Monroe, one of the most celebrated actresses in Hollywood history, was only 36 years old when she died. Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in 1926, she became famous for her roles as a hapless blonde in such films as “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,” “How to Marry a Millionaire,” and “Some Like it Hot.”
