GM looks to make cheaper EV batteries after signing multibillion-dollar deal

General Motors Co. has signed a multibillion-dollar deal with Norway-based graphite manufacturer Vianode for materials for electric-vehicle batteries. The deal comes as GM looks to boost EV profitability.

The agreement “covers development of large-scale manufacturing capacity and supply of synthetic anode graphite towards 2033,” Vianode said in a

statement.
