The cost of employing the average U.S. worker likely rose by 0.9% last quarter, after rising by 0.7% in the second quarter, according to economists polled by The Wall Street Journal.
The report comes as average pay rose last month by 19 cents to $30.85 an hour, pushing the increase over the past year to 4.6%. Before the pandemic wages were increasing around 3% a year.
The Labor Department will release the Employment Cost Index report at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.
