Realtor.com: Retired NBA Star JJ Redick Selling Baller Brooklyn Penthouse for $8.5M

The former NBA star JJ Redick has tossed his baller Brooklyn apartment onto the market. He and his wife, Chelsea Redick, are asking $8.5 million for the duplex, the Wall Street Journal first reported.

The couple purchased the newly developed penthouse in 2017 for $6,083,005, according to Realtor.com®.

Duplex do-over

The couple opted for their own finishes, and proceeded to gut their newly purchased place to renovate it. They were looking for a more formal, European-inspired style—a tall order for the former warehouse.

The couple worked with the decorator Michael Aiduss to create a classical space with ornate fixtures. It wound up as a showcase of the owners’ personal tastes and was featured in Architectural Digest in 2019. An article on the condo described it as “one of a kind.”

Now the family has decided to relocate to another Brooklyn address closer to their children’s school, according to the WSJ.

They’re leaving behind a spectacular space.

Lavish living quarters

With four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, the 3,000-square-foot layout spans two levels, and includes wraparound terraces on both floors.

The couple also added an entryway. That formal foyer leads to an open living and dining area, along with a sitting alcove and bar.

A focal point of the main level, the Aegean blue kitchen, features marble counters and premium appliances. The kitchen connects to a family room, which boasts a hidden TV.

Set apart, the master bedroom suite has French moldings and access to a private terrace. The retreat includes a mirrored dressing room and a bathroom with a soaking tub.

One floor up, there are two additional bedrooms, as well as a study area. Glass doors from each room lead out to the upper terrace and sunset views.

“The quality of materials and level of design in the penthouse set it apart from the rest of the market. The mix of classical architecture and modern finishes create a sense of perfect harmony throughout the home,” says the listing agent, Suzanne Koxvold of Compass.

Adds the Compass listing agent Rachel Greenstein, “This is a spectacular space that offers the feel of townhouse living with condo amenities.”

Redick, 37, starred in college at Duke University. He played for 15 seasons in the NBA and was a noted three-point specialist. Now retired, he works as an ESPN analyst.
